The average plot size is usually upwards of 5,000 sq. m. (approx. 1¼ acres or 54,450 sq. ft.) and a formal architectural project must accompany the application for the corresponding building license from the Town Hall.
Prices quoted include a fenced-in area of approx. 1,500-2,000 sq. m. around the new home, with the option available to have the whole plot perimeter fenced-in. In either case, most owners choose to develop their gardens in the immediate vicinity of the house and leave the rest of the land for one of the local farmers to continue to care for. In which case, if the size of the crop is considered as reasonable, the farmer (usually the previous owner of the land) looks after tilling the soil, pruning and crop collection for a small sum of money or without any charge, if the size of the crop is sufficient. |
